Hi, Ms. Seitz. First of all, you can write articles for the newspaper ANYTIME! :) And I love the snow day photos! I'm going to ask my mom for a sled so I can go sledding next time! I went outside to my backyard and built two snowmen and made a snow angel. It was fun lying in the snow! Plus, what seeds did you put in your yard that had the Male Cardinal come? Next time, can you post a photo of it on your blog? I bet the brilliant shade of red from the Cardinal looked beautiful in the clean, white snow!I'm glad we'll go birding again. And, did you get my e-mail? I sent you the first one but you said you didn't get it, so I sent it yesterday, again. I hope you got it because it's about this contest I'm entering! :) The deadline for it is on Jan. 29 so please tell me soon if you got it or not! The info about the contest is in the e-mail. Well, happy snow day! It was so fun! :)

Sarah: So glad you got outside! And yes, I have been to Utah, and it has some amazing natural places. Lots of national parks: Zion, Bryce, Arches, Canyonlands. So, so nice. I will look into the horseshoe crab trip. I think it would be great to do it again.

By the way, that picture of me with the red rocks is Utah!

Hi, Ms. Seitz. I agree with Sarah, going to the horseshoe crab beach walk trip would be amazing! I've seen your pictures there that you took with your family. :) Well, see you on Friday!

Hi Ms.Seitz!Wow never knew that picture was in Utah!Come to think that it snows there. Thanks for the response.I keep wondering about what our next experiment is.The first ones were so fun!I am always exited to go to Science Ms.Seitz.You make it so much fun.I can't even imagine learning Science in middle school without you.It won't be the same.I have mixed feelings about middle school.I'm both sad and happy.Sad because I'm leaving PS230!The best school in the world! What a drag!Happy because I am finally growing up!So long PS230.At least one more year.Even though I'm going to middle school Ms.Seitz,I will still look at this blog.I will also try to visit PS230 as much as I can!One question.Which part of Utah is the coldest?Today we went on a trip to THE NEW YORK HISTORICAL SOCIETY.It was so much fun!You should go there!GoodBye Ms.Seitz and respond quickly!!!!!!!

Hi, Ms. Seitz. I've been trying to learn about new birds by looking in this guide I have to the identification about birds. Lately, I've been studying the Black-Throated Blue Warbler. Their scientific name is "Dendroica Caerulescens." the name Dendroica reminds me of a vocab word I know: dendroid, meaning, like a tree. Their song kinda sounds like a slight shriek. :) This bird really looks pretty because it has two colors that are both dark,(black and dark blue) and it looks like the colors really do go good together together. Well, see you on Friday!

P.S. Can you keep me up to date about new birds that you ever see? I'd like to research every bird I hear of. :)

Hi Ms.Seitz! How are you?It was so cold outside! On the coldest day on Tuesday school is open!I didn't think it was going to be open. They closed the school on the wrong days.Have you heard that the school put recycling bins in the cafeteria? Now there is one good reason to pay attention in science class!See you on Friday!Bye!:)

Ms. Seitz said...

Sarah: I did see the recycling bins. I think it's a great idea. I think they can be a little confusing so they will take some getting used to. This weekend is supposed to be warmer, so that's good. See you tomorrow!

The NY Historical Society is quite a place. Lots and lots of, well, NY History! I love local history. And what you are feeling is completely appropriate. Middle school will be different but you will enjoy the new challenges and the growing up and being more independent part. I know you will be very successful. I'm thinking of doing some lessons on the interconnectedness of all living things, looking at ecosystems and how the smallest thing, human made or nature made, can affect and change an entire place. Stayed tuned!

Tasfiya: And the cerulean part of the name is actually a kind of blue color, so that's why it's part of the bird's name! There are many kinds of warblers and many of them are yellows and greens and very difficult to identify because they can seem similar looking. I like the black and white warbler because it really sticks out in a crowd.

Wow, I never knew that was why the word cerulean was in the name! And, thanks for telling me about the black and white warbler! I'm gonna do some research on it! :)

Utah is awesome!i went their to go sledding and the have a lot of snow in the winter. The red rocks looks so beautiful!but he dangerous part is that when i went 3 people had to go to the ambulance.it was the funnest winter for my whole life.

I have a question, what animal eats a redtailed hawk?

Hi Ms.Seitz!Today I went to take a test at Mark Twain.I was nervous. The school was so big.I t took 4 hours to last.I took three tests. The science test.(Of course I would never leave that part!)The math test. That is important to me.It is the third best subject to me.The computer test.I really like computers so I tested my skills. One hour is a break between the three tests.Mark Twain is a school in which you have to pay for lunch.I never knew that. But I took 10 bucks with me.I looked around at the bulletin boards and I realized that in middle school it doesn't matter how good your drawings are (except in art),it just matters on how much you write. You know :labels and stuff.Well got to go.Bye!:) :) :)

Ms. Seitz said...

Hasib: I'm so glad you had a chance to visit Utah. It is a beautiful state!

Sanjida: Redtailed hawks are at the top of the food chain, so no one eats them!

Sarah: I'd love to hear what kinds of questions they asked on the science test. I could never find out. And it really isn't how much you write (the quantity) it really is how well you write (the quality). Writing is a very important skill and it can be difficult for a lot of people. It takes a lot of practice....like everything else.

Tasfiya: Keep researching! I read the Daily Tweeter again this weekend. It is so good and very well written.

Thanks, Ms. Seitz! There are more issues of the newspaper coming up! I try to spare time on the weekends SSO I could work on The Daily Tweeter! :)
